Vanessa Van Meerhaeghe's paintings are an attempt to depict colour and form in an aesthetically pleasing way. With a background in fashion design and inspired by nature, Vanessa truly believes that colour and form are enough to carry a painting and that we don’t always have to look for deeper meanings or hidden messages. She just looks for what is beautiful to her and let the paintings come alive intuitively.
Vanessa shows a selection of ‘Left to Wander’ in Virtual/Vitrine. During Covid-lockdown, all there was left to do was wander. This led to the opportunity to take the backpack and go hiking in our own region. They walked through forest and didn’t know were they where and got enchanted by our Belgian nature. Some of the paintings made during this period, were totally inspired by the photo's taken during these hikes. For others, Vanessa let her fantasy take over and created imaginary worlds to hike in.
