Ilse Joris is a painter. Nothing is what it seems. Everything is true and not true at the same time. Ilse Joris likes images that make a strong first impression and that contain a story. As a former teacher of ethics, she is very committed to social themes. The viewer is encouraged to come out of his comfort zone. At first sight a lot of her artworks look like disjointed images, this invites the viewer to look
at art differently.

There is before Corona and there is the aftermath... The virus has changed everything. What seemed strong and certain has become fragile and doubtful. The Covid monster has made us gasp but also gave us more breathing space. We learned how it is not to run, jump, fly, get up and go on again all the time. Some are all alone, others are more lucky and have a family. We forgot how silence feels, how mystical a forest can be, how nice it is to be together...
